Constellation rings closing bell at stock exchange

Constellation Brands officials will close the New York Stock Exchange this afternoon as part of an annual Cinco de Mayo celebration. Beer Division President Paul Hetterich and Chief Financial Officier David Klein will do the honors, which include ringing a bell and banging a gavel.

“I’m thrilled to kick off our big summer selling season for our beer business here at the NYSE,” Hetterich said. “Corona has been the number one import in the U.S. for more than 20 years…and Pacifico is the second fastest-growing major brand in the category today.”

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of a much smaller Mexican army in the Battle of Puebla against invading French forces under Napoleon III in 1862. A minor holiday in Mexico, the day is celebrated with Mexican food and drink in the United States.
