Greenlight Networks, the Henrietta-based fiber broadband internet service provider, has reached the 100,000-household milestone in New York.

Greenlight continues to expand in four metropolitan areas: Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton and suburban Albany. The company expects to bring service to another 30,000 households before the end of 2022.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the community’s growing support and for the municipalities, who recognized how critical high-speed internet is for their residents’ livelihood and lifestyle needs,” Mark Murphy, president and CEO of Greenlight, said in a news release. “In many ways, this is a great milestone for both our company and our customers alike.”

The build-out of the fiber network accelerated in March, when Oak Hill Capital acquired majority interest in the company and committed up to $300 million in investment.

Greenlight’s internet service costs $50 and provides synchronous speeds (500 Mpbs for download and upload).

“We are seeing more customers streaming, managing multiple devices and looking to completely ‘cut the cord’ from cable TV,” Murphy said. “Over the coming months, we will further expand our coverage into new areas to better serve the needs of New Yorkers across the state.”
