UR Medicine Thompson Health is inviting nurses from throughout the Rochester and Finger Lakes region to a nurse networking/wellness event next week called Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nursing.
The free event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Constellation Center for Health and Healing at F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
It will include a panel discussion on wellness featuring nurses from various stages of their careers, followed by a mindfulness activity for stress reduction, networking, Q&A and chair massages.
Those attending the event will have their names entered into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to Michelle’s Salon & Spa at Five Seasons in Canandaigua.
Hazel Robertshaw, Thompson Health senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, said the event is designed for experienced nurses, new graduates and nursing students.
“As nurses, we know caring for patients is tremendously rewarding, but a nursing career can also be very demanding,” Robertshaw said. “We need to maintain stamina, strength and compassion in order to excel in our profession and be happy in our home lives. We need to take time to focus on ourselves and this event will help all of us achieve this important aspect of a successful and fulfilling nursing career.”
