Channel Sabado, owner of Glow Spa Roc on Mount Read Boulevard, was one of three winners in this year’s She Means Business multi-state pitch competition. The other winners were Victoria E. Thomas-Bodie from Indianapolis Ind., owner of The Pink Tub, and Deona Pippen from Buffalo, owner of Tha Bakery Store.

The three were awarded a total of $10,000 in cash from The Enterprise Center at PathStone.

They were among 10 finalists who made it to the final round of the competition. There were 19 women who participated in the pitch competition, which was sponsored by Citizens.

As part of the pitch competition, four judges evaluated each pitch and assigned value for categories such as: clarity in defining target market, product/service fit, competitors, ability to answer questions and provide details on the amount of startup or growth funds needed, as well as the overall presentation.

She Means Business is a seven-week virtual intensive curriculum facilitated by The Enterprise Center at Pathstone that is designed to take women entrepreneurs through the steps and processes needed to succeed in business, going from ideation to launch, from recession to expansion and job creation.

This year’s program attracted 61 participants from Buffalo, Rochester, New York City, as well as Indiana and Pennsylvania.

“The Enterprise Center at PathStone is committed to the future of the women-owned small businesses … many who were left most vulnerable after the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Javier Zapata, president and executive director of The Enterprise Center at PathStone.
