Elevate Rochester selects 2022 ETHIE Award recipients

Elevate Rochester will honor The Children’s Agenda, JN White, LaBella Associates and Nocon & Associates next month for their strong ethical standards.

The four firms will receive ETHIE Awards, recognition by Elevate Rochester of their commitment to “do the right thing through strong ethical foundations, aspirations to high standards of business conduct, and the multifaceted nature of ethics in our daily lives.”

“Each year we seek the best Rochester organizations to honor with ETHIE Awards, and this year’s class is superb as usual,” Bob Whipple, board chair of Elevate Rochester (formerly Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation), said in a news release.

“Our ETHIE Awards Team took a very close look at these applicants and found that each one of them has built a durable, ethical corporate culture, and that deserves recognition,” Whipple said.

RABEF becomes Elevate Rochester

Elevate Rochester is the new name for what had been known as the Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation (RABEF) since the organization’s founding in 2003.

The new name and logo represent both a statement of the organization’s mission and a re-dedication to its signature program, the annual ETHIE Awards, according to a news release.

“Elevate Rochester is both a name and a rallying cry for our community,” board chair Robert Whipple said in the release.

“Our relevance in the business world is greater than ever, and we look forward to people using this name with pride and getting to know more about the impact of ethical behavior on the way organizations perform,” he said.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic the ETHIE Awards process is on hold and is expected to resume next year. Elevate Rochester also is changing the way it recognizes organizations that meet the standards of a highly ethical culture.

The organization’s annual ETHIE Award celebration recognizes organizations that meet the standards in each of these four areas of ethical behaviors:

  • Ethical leadership
  • Organizational excellence
  • Response to ethical dilemmas
  • Corporate citizenship

In addition, Elevate Rochester may highlight a company for stand-out performance in one or more of the categories.

Previously, the annual ETHIE Award process produced a list of finalists and a single recipient for each of the large, medium, and small business categories.
