Gates Chili Chamber to honor contributors to the community

Five individuals, four businesses and one community organization will be recognized by the Gates Chili Chamber of Commerce for their accomplishments and contributions.

The chamber’s 37th annual Community Awards are scheduled for Oct. 13 at Brook Lea Country Club. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.

The award winners:

Beautification Award/Chili (for new construction or restoration of existing facilities to enhance the area): Chili Fire Department Fire House.

Beautification Award/Gates: Byrne Dairy.

Joseph Entress Memorial Award (for on-going improvement encouraging continued economic development in the area): American Packaging.

Innovative Business Award (a business that has stimulated economic growth and commerce, with regard to product demand and originality of the enterprise): Pure Imagination Café.

Culture and Arts Award (to an individual or organization whose talents or patronage have strengthened the understanding, appreciation, and support of art and culture as an integral part of community life): Adeane Giagos.

Outstanding Citizen (for contributions to the betterment of the community): Carolyn Clark-Showers.

Youth Leadership Award (recognizing a youth group or individual 21 and under for leadership in a business or business association, community service to others and serves as a role model among their peers): Malena Juif.

Dream Big Award (for embodying the spirit of innovation): Sweet Sammie Jane’s.

Young Professional Award (given to an emerging leader between 22 and 36 who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their profession, has a proven commitment to service by contributing time and energy to improving the quality of life of others in the community, and serves as a role model both personally and professionally): Anthony Moncada, Sacred Realm Tattoo.

Loretta Simmons Women’s Leadership Award (named after the chamber’s first president, the award honors women in leadership roles who contribute to the betterment of the community): Chris Maurice.

Special recognition awards will be presented to PICS Telecom for its 30-year anniversary, Passero Associates in honor of its 50-year anniversary, Taylor Heating Inc. for its 75-year anniversary, the town of Chili for its 200-year anniversary, the Gates Fire Explorers Post 272, the Kiwanis Club of Rochester Southwest, and Gates town historian Bill Gillette.
