Sunnking event raises $13,000 for Camp Good Days

Brockport electronics recycler Sunnking Inc. has raised more than $13,000 for Camp Good Days and Special Times during its 11th annual e-Scrap for Camp fundraiser.

More than 350 businesses participated in the electronics recycling donation drive for Camp Good Days, a local nonprofit that helps children and families deal with cancer. The donation coincides with National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“Our community stepped up in a big way,” Sunnking Vice President Adam Shine said in a statement. “With what these kids and families continue to deal with it’s hugely important that we keep doing our part to provide them program access and something as simple as recycling electronics is all it takes.”

Sunnking works with local businesses to recycle unwanted electronics through the donation drive, generating funds for future programs at Camp Good Days. The e-Scrap for Camp program has given more than $128,000 to provide access to the year-round activities for Western New York children.

“We are overjoyed and in awe of the amount Sunnking continues to donate to our organization,” said Camp Good Days Western New York Regional Director Lisa Booz. “In a time when most of the world stopped, Camp Good Days pushed on through, providing programming to families facing cancer without pause. Accomplishing this feat without Sunnking’s e-Scrap for Camp program would not have been possible.”

Rochester and Buffalo area businesses provided a total of 445,256 pounds of recyclable devices toward the 2021 donation, a 6 percent increase from 2020. Since the e-Scrap event was started Sunnking has rescued more than 5.5 million pounds of recyclable material from area landfills.

Sunnking will launch registration for the 2022 fundraising campaign later this year.
