The Cannery has re-created a landmark in the village of Fairport.

After Matt Lester, managing partner of Rochester-based Caliber Commercial Brokerage, dreamed up his vision for a mixed-use development project, he found the Cannery property and decided it was the perfect location.

The project in the heart of the village grew out of a market analysis by Lester and his partner in Caliber, Rick Altier, which found a shortage of commercial real estate in Fairport.

The $12 million-plus investment renovated the long vacant 62,000-square-foot structure at 25 Parce Ave. built in 1908 as the home of the American Can Co.

The former warehouse/industrial buildings were developed into a mixed-use facility with retail, restaurant, office and flex space.

Redevelopment of the property included environmental remediation, significant sewer infrastructure, site, building and tenant improvements.

A 199-foot factory smokestack on the property stands as a welcoming beacon at the main entryway.

The Cannery is now home to Faircraft Brauhaus, Compane Trattoria and Smokin’ Hot Chicks BBQ. Together with their neighbors Iron Smoke Whiskey and Triphammer Bierworx, The Cannery has created a vibrant and exciting destination.
