Euro tops its launch mark; hits record high vs. yen

The euro on Friday topped its launch mark. After months of dollar decline, the euro rose above $1.1747, the rate it made its debut at on Jan. 4, 1999. It also hit a record high against the Japanese yen and currency traders said further gains were likely, Reuters reported.
