NYPA announces $840,000 award for Rochester (access required)

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) announced Wednesday two grants totaling $840,000 to support Rochester energy-saving initiatives. Part of Cuomo's Five City Energy Plan, the two projects include $400,000 toward energy efficient lighting at 17 community and recreational facilities in Rochester, as well as $440,000 in funding for energy efficient lighting at the Blue Cross Arena, the Emergency Communications Center and the Charlotte Branch Library. In total, the projects are estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 630 tons annually, as well as save $90,000 in energy costs per year.
