What market forces or innovations are poised to have the greatest impact on your industry in the next few years?

The accounting profession is changing faster than it has in decades. Technology and automation are transforming how firms deliver insight and advisory services to clients. At the same time, we’re seeing a shift in ownership structures. At a time when private equity is reshaping ownership across the profession, our firm remains owned and operated by local CPAs. That independence allows us to focus on long-term client relationships, professional judgment and serving our community.

What steps are you taking to remain agile in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape?

In our profession, standing still isn’t an option. Regulations continue to evolve, so agility comes from continuous learning and strong collaboration within our team. We prioritize ongoing professional education and leverage technology to stay current with changing standards. In my experience, leadership by practicing CPAs makes a difference in how quickly firms can respond to change. Because our firm is owned and operated by CPAs, we can respond quickly while continuing to provide clear guidance to our clients.

How has your leadership philosophy evolved over the course of your career?

Early in my career, I thought leadership meant having the answers. Over time, I’ve learned it’s really about developing strong teams and creating opportunities for others to grow. My focus today is building an environment where people feel supported, accountable and able to do their best work. In a locally owned CPA firm, leadership stays close to the work and the people doing it. That connection helps us stay grounded in our values while developing the next generation of leaders in our profession.

How can local organizations collaborate more effectively to drive regional growth?

Strong communities are built through strong partnerships. Businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions all play a role in developing talent and creating opportunities for businesses to grow. I’ve seen that when organizations work together, the entire region benefits. Locally owned businesses are especially important because leadership and decision-making stay rooted in the community. As a CPA firm owned and operated by local professionals, we see firsthand how collaboration strengthens the regional economy. Rochester has a strong business community, and I’m proud to be part of it.

What role does mentorship play in strengthening the local business ecosystem?

Every strong profession depends on the next generation of leaders. Mentorship helps young professionals build both technical expertise and confidence. In a locally owned CPA firm, mentorship happens naturally because partners and senior professionals work closely with emerging talent. Investing in mentorship strengthens our profession, helps retain talented individuals in our region and contributes to a stronger and more connected business community. That responsibility is something I take seriously.
