A statewide commercialization competition will take place in Rochester next month and includes one local firm vying for the top prize.
The New York State Innovation Summit will be held at the at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Oct. 29th and 30th.
Presented by FuzeHub—in partnership with Empire State Development‘s Division of Science, Technology & Innovation— the summit includes a commercialization competition, where 12 entrepreneurs will present their business plans before a panel of judges and a live audience.
That includes Bloomfield, Ontario County-based Intelligent Surgical Solutions Inc. The business has developed a surgical device platform for safe and more effective hysterectomies.
Competition prizes include two $80,000 awards, one $100,000 runner-up prize and a $150,000 grand award.
Award funds must be used to improve an existing prototype or go-to-market strategy, enabling the company to pursue additional investments and customers and leading to the successful commercialization of their product.
“This competition is more than a pitch event; it is a catalyst for visionaries to turn bold ideas into real products,” said Patty Rechberger, Innovation Fund manager at FuzeHub. “Every year, we see founders tackling incredibly complex challenges, from creating sustainability to prototyping life changing medical devices. New York’s future is being built in these workspaces and labs, and we are proud to help these entrepreneurs move from concept to commercialization.”
The Innovation Summit serves as a platform for companies and innovators to showcase disruptive products, forge strategic partnerships and accelerate the commercialization of technologies. More information on the summit can be found here.
