Rochester area’s first Wingstop set to open Thursday

Rochester area’s first Wingstop set to open Thursday

After opening more than 2,000 restaurants nationwide, Wingstop is ready to christen its first location in the Greater Rochester area.

The Dallas-based casual chicken chain will open the doors to Wingstop at the Mall at Greece Ridge (located on the east side, off Somerworth Drive) at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Planned hours of operation are 11 a.m. to midnight.

The local franchisees are Lewis Carter and Howard O’Brien. This will be the only Wingstop currently open west of Utica.

Wingstop specializes in all things chicken, including wings, tenders and sandwiches, plus fries. There are 11 signature flavors, including lemon pepper, hickory smoked BBQ, Hawaiian and mango habanero, as well as a new Cajun concoction.

Wingstop décor features an pre-jet aviation theme. The corporation boasts 18 consecutive years of positive domestic same-store growth along with “some of the highest sales per square foot in the industry.”

Carter and O’Brien also will be the local operators of Wingstop restaurants that are in the works for Henrietta and Irondequoit.
