Amazon schedules Rochester-area hiring event for Friday
Amazon will conduct a hiring event on Friday, saying it is looking to fill more than 1,000 jobs in the Greater Rochester area.
The in-person job fair will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Italian American Community Center at 150 Frank DiMino Way in Gates. Interested applicants are encouraged to bring work authorization documentation for on-the-spot hiring.
The company does not indicate which facility or facilities in the Rochester area have openings. Amazon has been planning to open a 2.6 million-square-foot fulfillment center on Manitou Road in Gates this fall but has yet to provide a firm date. The opening has been delayed for more than a year from the original target date.
The hiring event in Gates is part of nationwide campaign to hire 250,000 employees for full-time, seasonal and part-time positions.
Those roles include packing, picking, sorting and shipping. Customer fulfillment and transportation employees earn, on average, around $20.50 an hour, and up to $28 an hour, depending on location.
