The city of Rochester has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the 39th consecutive year the municipality’s accounting practices have been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The GFOA also issued an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to the city’s finance department and accounting bureau.

Founded in 1906, the GFOA’s mission is to advance excellence in public finance.

“Managing tax dollars is among the most important duties at City Hall,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a news release. “These awards reflect our commitment to the highest standard of government accounting. I could not be prouder of Director of Finance Kim D. Jones, her deputy director, Kathleen Havens, and every member of her team for shaping the city’s most recent financial report.”

The awards recognize the city’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending in June of 2022.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting encourages municipalities “to go beyond minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.”
