M&T Bank’s support for National Guard and Reserve Members recognized with Above and Beyond Award

M&T Bank was selected to receive the Above and Beyond Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Committee for New York state.

In addition to the companywide award, M&T Bank Rochester Regional President Dan Burns and M&T Bank Binghamton Regional President Peter Newman were presented with Patriot Awards from the ESGR for their work to thoughtfully support colleagues who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The Above and Beyond Award recognizes companies that provide their Guard and Reserve employees with additional support and benefits above and beyond what is legally required, such as extended health benefits, highly flexible work environments, differential pay and other programs.

The Patriot Award recognizes efforts made by individual supervisors who support members of the National Guard and Reserve through various measures, including flexible scheduling, time off before or after deployment, care for families and allowing for a leave of absence when necessary.

Burns and Newman were nominated for the award by Jeremy Vitale, a senior vice president at M&T Bank and an Air National Guard Cyberspace Operations Officer.

“National Guard and Reserve members carry significant responsibilities at work, at home and in their service,” Burns said. “To foster a truly inclusive work environment, we must serve their needs, celebrate their remarkable sacrifices and provide generous support for all they’re juggling.”
