Monroe County to host informational open house for small businesses

Monroe County will conduct a Small Business Assistance Open House to provide business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and jobseekers with information on incentives and available programs available through the Division of Economic and Workforce Development.

Division staff will meet one-on-one on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at City Place, 50 w. Main St. in Rochester.

The county’s resource partners also will be on hand with information about other support programs, including on-the-job training grants, creating a business plan, filing requirements in the county and New York State and registering as a Minority or Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE).

County Executive Adam Bello also will unveil at the event a new program to assist small businesses.

“Small business owners are the foundation of our community and economy — they give their all to achieve the American dream and create jobs for their neighbors,” Bello said in a news release.

Business owners should register on the event’s website.

Monroe County offers a variety of assistance aimed at helping local startups and small businesses succeed, including procurement technical assistance, rebates for qualified manufacturing equipment purchases, rebates for qualitied manufacturing equipment purchases, small business loans and gap loan financing.
