The Genesee County Economic Development Center board of directors has accepted GSPP Route 262, LLC’s initial resolution to construct a five-megawatt community solar project, valued at $13 million, in the town of Byron.
Under the agreement, the LLC will receive a sales tax exemption of $1.06 million, a mortgage tax exemption of $71,000 and a property tax exemption of $778,000.
Additionally, the project is estimated to generate a $627,000 increase in property-tax type revenues to host municipalities resulting in $5.14 in revenue for every $1 generated from the property’s current use, the agency reported.
The host municipalities are Genesee County and the town of Byron, along with the Byron-Bergen Central School District.
A public hearing on the proposed project will be scheduled in the town of Byron.
