$13M community solar project to be considered at Genesee County meeting
The Genesee County Economic Development Center’s board of directors will consider an initial resolution for GSPP Route 262, LLC’s 5 MW community solar project at its board meeting on Thursday.
The company is seeking a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement for the project, which will be located in the town of Byron.
The project’s total capital investment is roughly $13 million. It is estimated to generate a roughly $627,000 increase in property-tax type revenues to host municipalities.
The solar project would offer discounted electricity to local customers.
It is aligned with New York’s goals for renewable energy, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions and will offer customers a 10 percent discount versus average market rates for the generated power, the organization reported.
If the project application is accepted, a public hearing will be scheduled on the proposed project agreement in the town of Byron.
