Greenlight Networks will expand its fiber further into Webster, giving another 4,000 households access to the gigabit internet provider by the end of the year.

Greenlight is already available to around 7,000 homes, and an additional $4 million investment in infrastructure will allow expansion another 2,300 homes to come online in the near future, with an additional 1,700 added before the end of 2023.

“I’m proud to say that Greenlight is ambitiously working toward our goal of increasing fiber Internet connectivity here in the Rochester market and we are making significant strides in the Town of Webster,” Greenlight CEO Mark Murphy said in a news release. “This community has been so vocal about their needs for more affordable, reliable and high-speed Internet services and we’re ready to make that happen.”

Webster residents can check on the Greenlight website to determine if service is available in their neighborhood and place pre-orders.

“It’s great news for local residents who have patiently advocated for Greenlight over the years,” town supervisor Tom Flaherty said. “This increased access to Fiber Internet is good thing for the community and the economy. We need more options, we need more reliable services and fiber brings a whole new level of connectivity that will truly benefit residents in the long haul.”
