The Paychex Charitable Foundation has made a $50,000 donation to Hillside for the purchase of laptops for area high school seniors participating in the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection program.
“As a leading provider of technology solutions to manage HR, payroll and benefits, Paychex knows just how important digital equity is to support the workforce of today and build the workforce of tomorrow,” said John Gibson, Paychex president and CEO.
Currently, HWSC serves Rochester-area students in the Rochester City, Greece and Gates-Chili school districts.
Eligible young people enter the program in grades seven through nine and receive 360-degree support from school-based youth advocates who work to support student access to resources, engage teacher/school administration, resource basic needs and generally intervene in motivation, change, trauma and other priorities.
“For too long, a systemic lack of access to digital technology tools has held back students and families – particularly in BIPOC communities – from access to critical connections and resources,” said Maria Cristalli, Hillside president and CEO. “Hillside is grateful for this impactful gift from the Paychex Charitable Foundation, which will make a profound difference in the lives of dozens of students we serve.”
