President, Gallina Development Corp.
Years in current role: 40+
What was your biggest challenge in 2022?
Re-focusing on our growth path coming out of two years of a very challenging economy. Our re-development of the Xerox Tower into Innovation Square has been and continues to be a strong focus for our team. In addition, our other downtown properties, The Metropolitan, The Seneca Building and One East Ave, have also been challenging in leasing up available commercial space.
What are your priorities for 2023?
We are working on strengthening our team across all property types in our portfolio. We expect that our suburban flex and warehouse properties will continue to perform very well. The office market, whether downtown or in suburban locations, is still in flux as companies attempt to right size their office space. We will be working hard to accommodate their changing needs.
What do you think will be different about the Rochester community in five years?
I think that the main difference in the next five years will be a sense of a more stable and maturing downtown core. We and many others, through organizations such as GRE, RDDC, ROC 2025, the Chamber, as well as others, continue to invest their resources in ensuring that our center city is a vibrant area that will continue to attract new residential and commercial tenants. We strongly believe that as a result of these efforts, we will see a stronger and more stable downtown.
