ROC the DAY returns Nov. 29

On Nov. 29, thousands of donors will come together to donate to local nonprofits during the 12th annual ROC the Day.

ROC the Day is a 24- hour online giving event hosted and managed by United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. Between midnight and 11:59 pm on Nov. 29, donors can visit roctheday.org and donate to causes that matter to them the most in the nine-county Greater Rochester region.

This year, a record-breaking 600 nonprofits are registered for ROC the Day.

ROC the Day aligns with #GivingTuesday, a global effort to give back during the holiday season.

Last year, nearly $1.2 million was raised for 570 local nonprofits. In its 12-year history, ROC the Day has raised more than $9 million for local nonprofits.

To spark more donations and buzz around the event, ROC the Day offers several incentives. Through Nov. 23, donors and nonprofits can participate in the ‘R-O-C picture contest on United Way’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (@UnitedWayROCFLX). Participants can win $250 for a nonprofit of their choice. Two winners will be chosen at random and will be notified after Nov. 29.

On ROC the Day, there will be two ROC’n hourly bonuses, sponsored by Glover-Crask Charitable Trust. On the odd hours during ROC the Day, one donor will be randomly selected to designate a gift of $500 to an organization participating in ROC the Day. On the even hours, the ROC the Day organization with the highest number of donors between the last two hours will receive $500.

The full list of participating nonprofits, hourly bonus details, and more information can be found on roctheday.org.
