Visit Rochester recognized in state Tourism Excellence Awards

Don Jeffries, president and CEO of Visit Rochester, was recognized for Excellence in Leadership: Career/Lifetime Achievement. Jeffries has been overseeing Visit Rochester activities since 2012.
Diana Rapp Keating, vice president of tourism and marketing for the organization, was honored for Excellence in Young Professional Leadership.
Visit Rochester also won for Excellence in Tourism Marketing Campaigns, Projects & Programs: Niche Marketing in the over $500,000 budget division for the “Bordering On …” campaign.
The awards recognize outstanding work by New York State’s destination marketing organizations, attractions and other tourism-related businesses and cover all forms of marketing, destination management and stewardship.
“Travel and tourism was the industry most adversely affected economically by COVID-19,” Dana Krueger, board chair of the NYSTIA, said in a news release. “Despite the many challenges the pandemic presented to the industry, the new technologies, techniques and strategies adopted by New York’s tourism professionals have contributed to a resurgent industry embracing best practice destination marketing, management and stewardship.”
