John T. Dipasquale

CEO, Cobblestone Capital Advisors

Years in current role: 8

What has been your organization’s biggest success over the past year?

Cobblestone Capital successfully transitioned ownership from the firm’s founders to second- and third-generation principals, ensuring our independence and lasting local commitment. An engaged, diversified, and vested ownership team will help us maintain a vibrant employee-centric and client-centric culture for many years to come. We have continued to build a cohesive, credentialed team of professionals serving the unique needs of our clients.

What are your expectations for the next 6-12 months?

We look to continue to provide our clients with consistent counsel and expertise to help them achieve their wealth management and investment goals during what we expect to be a challenging economic and market environment in the coming year. Dual headwinds of inflation and lower asset values will require seasoned perspective, and a more nuanced, thoughtful approach to meeting their near-term and long-term objectives.

What advice would you give somebody just starting out in your industry?

I encourage young professionals first to understand the multitude of options within the broader rubric of the financial industry before choosing their lane. Within each type of firm exists a variety of enriching career opportunities ranging from traditional roles in client advisory, security analysis, portfolio management, and financial planning to increasingly important areas such as operations, technology, and data analytics. In the absence of strong conviction, exploring different roles before deciding on a career path makes sense.

What is one personal goal you have for the next year?

I’m looking forward to enjoying more travel with my family to experience unique, first-time adventures together.

What are your favorite things about Rochester?

As my hometown, Rochester is synonymous with family, both my immediate family and my extended family of longstanding friends and business relationships. Anecdotally, the quality of life here can be measured by how often younger professionals go away to larger metropolitan areas to experience a more lively pace and plentiful career opportunities, and then enthusiastically choose to return to Rochester to raise a family. Convenient access to work venues, a diverse array of leisure outlets, outstanding educational institutions and healthcare facilities coupled with the warm, engaging, and generous nature of our community makes Rochester an exceptional place to call home.
