What has been your organization’s biggest success over the past year?
I could not be prouder of the work our Financial Advisors have done over the past year with our clients and our organic growth story. With our focus on medium- and long-term financial planning and asset allocation, our advisors have not allowed the exuberance of the markets to knock our clients off their goals. In these challenging times, there is no better recipe to success than to stay connected with our clients. Client conversations are up 60% YOY and even in the face of the worse financial markets in the past 50 years, our revenue and pre-tax profits are up YOY.
What are your expectations for the next 6-12 months?
Recognizing the unprecedented outliers that have developed in 2022 — including the sharpest interest rate hiking cycle in five decades, geopolitical tensions, and the worst performance year on record so far for a combined stock and bond portfolio going back to the 1970s — we remain very bullish on the American economy and consumer. Currently we are very balanced in our view, focusing on the medium and long term. For much of the past two years, we have been living in a rearview mirror, but with our bullish outlook, we are focused on the big windshield in front of us and working with our clients to focus on how they are allocated for 2023, 2024, 2025 and beyond.
What advice would you give somebody just starting out in your industry?
Have passion for what you do and operate with intent and purpose. I tell people all the time that if you can have success in this industry, there is no better career.
What is one personal goal you have for the next year?
I have several, but one that is personal to me is spending more time outdoors with my son. In 2023, we plan to hike the five tallest peaks in New York.
What are your favorite things about Rochester?
The people and our community. My family has been in Rochester for four years and it’s our home. We love it!
