Goodwill of the Finger Lakes will host its inaugural Thrift Crawl from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 at select stores and We Are Goodwill Summer Social: Sustainability Under the Stars from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Strasenburgh Planetarium.
Thrift Crawl participants will meet at the Goodwill store at 451 South Ave. and will take provided transportation to Goodwill’s Victor, Macedon and Webster stores.
At each venue, guests will enjoy snacks and beverages as “Thrift-fluencers” provide thrifting tips and styling advice. Guests will also enjoy a 15 percent discount in stores during the event. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
The event coincides with National Thrift Shop Day, a day to support local thrift shops while raising awareness for charitable organizations.
On the following day, Goodwill will host Sustainability Under the Stars. Held at the Rochester Museum & Science Center’s Strasenburgh Planetarium, the event will include music, an open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a sustainable fashion show.
Proceeds will support Goodwill’s mission programs and services. Go online to purchase tickets for Sustainability Under the Stars.
“The Goodwill Thrift Crawl and Summer Social are guaranteed to be fun and unique experiences,” Jennifer Lake, the agency’s president and CEO, said. “By putting a focus on the role of thrifting and sustainability in our community, we can showcase the impact shopping at Goodwill has on creating a greener and brighter future.”
