President and COO, Brite
Years in current role: 23
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy seeing people grow both on a personal and professional level. In the 23 years that I have owned this business, I have had the pleasure of employing more than 200 people. Whether they remain with Brite or move on to other roles with other great organizations, I enjoy watching them progress in their professional careers and enjoy personal milestones.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?
Maintaining our “Good Enough is Never Enough” culture. The “pandemic” initially helped to rally the troops. It brought our organization closer together during a very difficult time. However, as we have “recovered” the expectations of employees both tenured and new have changed. It has become more challenging to maintain and build upon our strong culture with more people working from home/remotely. This is something that I talk about and work on daily with my leadership team.
What has been your organization’s biggest success over the past year?
We have experience tremendous top line growth not just over the past year, but over the past several years. For us, the pandemic accelerated our growth due to work from home initiatives and the need to secure data outside of your traditional brick and mortar office locations.
What do you see as the biggest changes in the technology industry over the next year?
Staffing. In general, employment is at an all-time high again in the United States. Information Technology specific candidates are very sought after. If I was in college right now, I would definitely be pursuing a degree in some sort of IT specialty. You are basically writing your own ticket at that point and the opportunities are endless.
What community organizations do you support as a volunteer and why?
I have been a Rochester Regional Health board member since 2012. I am involved because I am passionate about providing the best possible healthcare for the communities that our seven hospitals serve. We have incredible doctors, nurses and other staff members that continue to provide incredible health care despite the challenges that they have endured over the past 24 months.
