Joseph Morelle Jr. has been named executive director of UNiCON Rochester, an association representing the construction industry in the nine-county Finger Lakes region.
As executive director, Morelle’s duties include furthering workforce and economic development initiatives for UNiCON (Unions and Businesses United in Construction).
“For over 20 years, UNiCON has been an advocate for Rochester’s construction industry supporting businesses and employees as they have built the Rochester we know today,” he said in a news release. “I look forward to building on the advancement that UNiCON has made with partners across the Finger Lakes Region as we advance economic opportunities and grow the construction workforce of tomorrow.”
Morelle spent 13 years at Wilmorite as part of the new development construction team. He also spent eight years as a Monroe County Legislator and in November lost the election for Irondequoit Town Supervisor to Rory Fitzpatrick.
UNiCON also promoted Jasmine Gelsomino to communications director. She had been executive assistant. Part of her duties include advancing workforce development and raising awareness in apprenticeship programs.
