CEO, Cobblestone Capital Advisors

Years in current role: 7

What do you enjoy most about your role?

In my role as CEO of Cobblestone Capital Advisors, I enjoy shaping the strategic direction for the firm, which includes building and leading a team of dedicated investment and wealth planning professionals who work collaboratively on behalf of a broad range of client relationships. In my role as an investment advisor, I find great satisfaction in helping clients establish personalized financial goals and build investment portfolios that are adaptable, tax-efficient and successful in achieving financial independence.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?

Leading our firm through an extended period of remote work in the midst of a global pandemic has been my biggest challenge. Proudly, the entire Cobblestone team has responded creatively and professionally to maintain our high standard of client service throughout this unique window of history. This experience has undoubtedly prepared us well for other unforeseen disruptions in the future.

What do you see as the biggest changes in the banking and finance industry in the next 3-5 years?

Navigating our clients through an economic landscape shaped by unprecedented fiscal and monetary stimulus, historically low interest rates in the midst of a tidal wave of technological innovation will require nimble thinking and a calm approach to successful long-term investment strategies.

What is the No. 1 tip you would give to people or companies about planning their finances amid uncertain times?

I urge all investors to set realistic short-, intermediate- and long-term financial goals based on their individual circumstances. They should seek objective counsel from a credentialed advisor to implement an approach that will prove sustainable even throughout periods of economic dislocation and will keep pace with inflation. It’s critical that investors commence their plan as early as possible to allow their financial assets to compound over an extended period of time.

What community organizations do you support as a volunteer and why?

As an alumnus of McQuaid Jesuit, I continue to support their advancement efforts to ensure a vibrant future for an outstanding educational institution that has fostered many leaders of our community. I also assist Wilmot Cancer Center as the region’s leading provider of cancer treatment in their annual fundraising efforts.

In addition, Cobblestone, as an independent, Rochester-based organization, maintains a deep commitment to supporting, through time and financial resources, dozens of local charities on an annual basis.
