Cameron Community Ministries has selected a nonprofit veteran as its seventh executive director.
Olivia Kassoum-Amadou brings more than two decades of nonprofit management and leadership experience to the role, having worked extensively with children youth and families. Previously Kassoum-Amadou served as chief strategy officer for the Arc of Chemung-Schuyler, as executive director for the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Northern New York and as executive director of Community Connection Outreach Center in North Carolina.
As a community leader, Kassoum-Amadou has worked for equal access to food, healthcare, affordable housing and education in underserved communities. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Winston-Salem State University and a master’s in health care management from Troy University.
“I am excited to be part of the Cameron family as executive director,” Kassoum-Amadou said in a statement. “I look forward to working with stakeholders and the board as we work toward achieving the goals outlined in our strategic plan.”
Kassoum-Amadou will work with Interim Executive Director Emily Hessney Lynch for a week before taking the reins.
Cameron has undergone significant growth in recent years, officials said. Under the leadership of previous Executive Director Jennifer Muniga, the nonprofit launched a capital campaign, built a new Teen Center to serve teenagers in the Lyell-Otis neighborhood, developed a new logo, launched a community garden and expanded offerings and community engagement efforts.
