CEO, LaBella Associates DPC
Years in current role: 2
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy working with people and solving problems. At LaBella, we enjoy a culture committed to providing outstanding service to our clients while creating an inspiring place to work for our employees. As CEO, I am deeply committed to the continuity of this culture.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?
Outside of all the operational challenges presented by the pandemic, I’d say not allowing COVID-19 to do two things, 1. to slow down our plans for growth — since January of 2020 we have grown by 32%, and 2. to erode the morale of our employees — we developed a communication plan that knitted together fireside chat videos from executives, published newsletters, regular email updates on company activities, and fun Zoom-based activities to maintain a continual flow of positive communications and interactions.
What do you see as the biggest changes in the real estate and construction industries in the next 3-5 years?
A general rethinking of building spaces and population shifts away from urban centers in reaction to COVID-19, rising construction costs and labor shortages, potentially changing (stricter) regulations, green technology and renewable energy practices.
What community organizations do you support as a volunteer and why?
Geva Theatre, YMCA, United Way, and LINC (LaBella in the Community). I support these organizations because their missions align with my personal efforts and interests to contribute to the Rochester community in a positive way.
What are you most looking forward to doing as COVID restrictions ease?
Enjoying live music and theatre, going to the Y, dining out, going to the ice cream shop, traveling.
