President/COO, DiMarco Group
Years in current role: 20
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy seeing the growth in our people. As every new opportunity presents itself, our teams of people expand their horizons and we succeed. Our businesses grow in balance with the growth of our people. It is rewarding and inspirational to work within a multi-generational, growth-oriented group of companies.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?
COVID-19 has been the biggest challenge this past year. All of our businesses were deemed essential. It required most of our people to work through the confusion and concern. Everyone was affected by the same issue, but its effects were very different. Each needed very thoughtful and calculated solutions.
What do you see as the biggest changes in the real estate and construction industries in the next 3-5 years?
With the shifts in how we function as a result of COVID-19 and the advancement of technologies, the next 3-5 years will change how and why industries use their existing facilities. Some will be able to be adapted, while some will need to be newly constructed. These changes will provide business opportunities. The process for how to properly transition the designs of these buildings in real estate will take time and money that is not yet factored into new revenue streams. We will need to be cautious and deliberate in how we move forward throughout the industry.
