To lead, develop the talents of others. For effectiveness, strengthen their knowledge and skills. To be heard, empower their voices. As your reward, enjoy their success.

Working with smart and caring people to build individual and family philanthropy into a powerful tool for community betterment.
Who have been the biggest mentors in your career?
My first community foundation boss, Jack Shakely of the California Community Foundation, who taught me the ropes and let me climb them; my husband, David Cay Johnston, who supports and challenges me; and the remarkable board members, donors and staff of Rochester Area Community Foundation, who share their hopes and dreams for our region and work together to realize them.
What are your hopes for the Rochester community this year?
An inclusive recovery that benefits all residents and positions us more competitively in the state and nation.
What do you do to unplug in your free time?
Play tennis, read and enjoy family.
