What’s been your biggest success?

Building with my brothers and JAY associates over four decades a nationally recognized marketing, promotion, music, and production firm.

Who have been the biggest mentors in your career?

My father, Ferdinand Smith Jr., who instilled passion for creativity. Bob Wegman, who showed me the critical importance of always supporting community through business endeavors. Albert Goldberg, former chairman of Blair BBDO, who insisted on delivering only the highest-quality work in anything you do.

What are your hopes for the Rochester community this year?

That the lessons learned from this world cultural correction surrounding the pandemic instills a fresh outlook and focus to instigate a new generation of leadership and ideas that appreciates the rich legacy of business and cultural excellence surrounding the Rochester-area region.

What do you do to unplug in your free time?

Reading non-fiction, exercise, music and golf.
