The Arc Foundation of Monroe will be seeking a new executive director as current leader transitions to retirement, the organization said Thursday.

Since joining the nonprofit organization in November 2018, the Arc Foundation has raised nearly $1.5 million to help fulfill its mission. DeMoulin said the “strong and mighty” team from the foundation and marketing department helped drive the success.

“The Arc Foundation is solid and stable,” said the CFO and acting CEO Tracy Petrichick. “We had great success in 2020 despite a difficult year navigating through the pandemic. The Arc Foundation of Monroe is in a position of strength, and I feel confident that things will continue to thrive.”

The Golisano Foundation Executive Director Ann Costello said the Arc Foundation thrived under DeMoulin’s leadership.

“Carol brought years of experience and a solid track record of successful fundraising. She stayed mission-focused on improving quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with several creative initiatives.”

During her nearly four-decade-long career, DeMoulin served as president or executive director of a number of local organizations including the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, the Arthritis Foundation of Upstate New York, the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York and the Leukemia Society of America.

“I will be working hard with the Arc Foundation for the next several months as the search committee is formed and my replacement is hired,” she said. “My transition to retirement will allow time to ensure the next foundation leader is a perfect fit for the important work we do at the Arc. The person who fills this spot must care wholeheartedly about the people we support and doing the absolute best job for them. I love the Arc of Monroe and feel passionately about finding a person to fill this role who feels the same way.”

The Arc Foundation board Chair Lisa Powers said a search committee is being formed and it is expected a replacement will be found within three months.

The Arc of Monroe provides a variety of programs and services for more than 1,400 people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families in the Rochester community. The organization was founded more than 60 years ago.
