Ontario County program looking for leaders

Ontario County program looking for leaders

A new, county-wide initiative has been launched to develop community-focused leaders in Ontario County.

Leadership Ontario will incorporate 13 full days of programming over the course of 10 months in which participants will become more knowledgeable about Ontario County, develop their own leadership skills and emerge better prepared to serve as professional and civic leaders in the region, officials said.

A two-day retreat will kick off the program, during which participants will get to know each other through exploring their own leadership strengths. Through several engaging activities, participants will explore leadership competencies. Other development opportunities include Tourism, Arts & Culture In Ontario County; We The People: Ontario County Government; From Commodity To Innovation: Economic Development In Agriculture; Diversity And Inclusion; and more.

Candidates can apply online and must be at least 18 years old and live or work in Ontario County. They must be natural leaders with an expressed interest in public or community service and have a willingness to “pay it forward.” Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

With a steering committee of more than 20 community leaders, Leadership Ontario is a program administered by the Partnership for Ontario County, an independent nonprofit organization founded in Canandaigua in 1998. The team creates, supports and administers alliances to cultivate positive social change.
