ComTec receives incentives to expand Gates operations

IT services provider ComTec Solutions is planning to expand its operations in Gates, creating up to two dozen new jobs in the next five years.

Empire State Development will provide up to $300,000 through the Excelsior Jobs Program in exchange for job creation commitments. The County of Monroe and Greater Rochester Enterprise Inc. also will provide support for the expansion project.

The total project cost is $2.23 million and will retain 33 jobs.

“ComTec Solutions’ expansion in Monroe County will create high-quality new jobs and further boost the Finger Lakes region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, reflecting the success of our strategic support for growing the upstate economy,” said Eric Gertler, ESD’s acting commissioner and president and CEO-designate.

The company specializes in IT managed services, Epicor ERP, cloud hosting, cloud backup and disaster recovery. ComTec has purchased a new building at 65 Elmgrove Park to accommodate the project.

“We are proud to be expanding our operation right here in Rochester. As a technology company, we certainly have many options of growing our workforce, including the remote employee model that many technology companies adopt,” company President Rob Moyer said in a statement. “Although we augment our staff with remote employees when necessary, we are a firm believer that our brick-and-mortar approach that leverages the excellent talent of our local workforce, as well as the high caliber of local technology schools such as RIT, is what has made us so successful over the years.

“We appreciate our partnership with New York State, Monroe County, Greater Rochester Enterprise and M&T Bank and all the help they have provided to make this project possible,” Moyer said.
