The Giving Tree

Mossa Dance presents their original ballet, “,” at Cobblestone Arts Center this weekend.

Celebrate the Thanksgiving season with Mossa Dance’s touching interpretation of Shel Silverstein’s beloved classic. Audiences are sure to be moved by the bond of The Boy and his Tree as they grow through the stages of life and encounter many challenges along the way. Witness selfless love stand the test of time.

This production incorporates daring acrobatic partnering with classical ballet technique and powerful storytelling.

“‘The Giving Tree’ is a profound story that has deep personal meaning to many people. It has been an honor and a challenge to unpack the many lessons that can be gleaned from this classic story,” says Alexis Gaetano, artistic director and founder of Mossa Dance. “This performance will encourage audience members to ponder what it means to give selflessly and what can happen when we take without thinking of others.”

Gaetano goes on to explain how time is equivalent to a continuous presentation of choices that can lead us down tough paths, but that time is also a factor in healing. Mossa Dance hopes to awaken audience members’ heart to reflect on gratitude with Thanksgiving around the corner.

Performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17. mossadance.com
