Max at Eastman Place introduces throw-back supper club
Max at Eastman Place is rolling back time with a Tuesday Night supper club that brings back dishes that have been popular for a century.
Max Supper Club will operate in the separate lounge the restaurant operates off the atrium in Eastman Place. Guests will enter through the usual door at 25 Gibbs St. The lounge has been redecorated in the Art Deco style popular in the 1920s, and with new artworks provided by Artisanworks.
The public will get its first peak at the supper club Tuesday.
“Having been here 18 years, it’s sort of like a little rebirth,” said Tony Gullace, chef and restaurateur.
The supper club will operate much like a pop-up restaurant, occupying a specific time – Tuesdays from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The menu will include dry-aged prime rib, oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salad, Alaskan King Crab and other classic dishes, cocktails and desserts.
Musicians from the Eastman Jazz program will also provide entertainment during the supper club dinners.
“We’re just kind of bringing some Manhattan feel to Rochester, said Lauren Lauterbach, the restaurant’s publicist.
The original Max at Eastman Place restaurant will still feature its own menu when the supper club is operating, and continue catering to people eating before or after concerts at the Eastman Theatre next door.
