BVT presents ‘The Roommate’

roommateBristol Valley Theater continues its summer season with “The Roommate.”

Written by Jen Silverman, the comedy centers on Sharon, a mom in her 50s, recently divorced and whose son doesn’t call. Robyn is looking for a place to disappear and start over, and she and Sharon become an unlikely pair when she answers Sharon’s ad for a roommate. Together they forge an unlikely friendship, and Sharon takes a walk on the wild side.

“Because the play explores how friendships can help us make new discoveries about ourselves, we’re celebrating female friendship at every performance,” says executive artistic director Karin Bowersock. “We’ll have special cocktails, give-aways, raffles, even a pajama party night—so grab your best friends and treat yourself to a ‘girls night out.’”

Female friendships are also important behind-the-scenes for this production. Bowersock, Judith Annozine (who plays Sharon) and director Suz Takahashi met and became friends over 20 years ago in New York City doing off-off-Broadway theater. Annozine moved to Los Angeles, and this is the first time the three have been reunited in 15 years.

Performances run through Sunday, Aug. 18. bvtnaples.org
