1. 'Dogfight: The Musical'

OFC Creations kicks off its 2019-20 season with “Dogfight: The Musical.” Set in 1963, three young Marines set out for one last boys’ night before leaving for deployment. When one meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress, he enlists her to win a cruel bet with one of his fellow recruits. Rose rewrites the rules of the game, though, teaching him the power of love and compassion. Sept. 13 through 20 at the Lyric Theatre Cabaret Stage. ofccreations.com

2. Greece Jazz Band

The 2019 Big Band Dance Series is in full swing, and Greece Jazz Band is the next headliner. The Al Bruno Trio hosts dancing at 6 p.m., and the Greece Jazz Band takes the stage at 7:15 p.m. at Ontario Beach Park on Sept. 18. ontariobeachentertainment.org

3. Purple Foot Festival

Casa Larga Vineyards is celebrating the grape harvest with its 24th annual Purple Foot Festival. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, guests can take part in the old-world tradition of grape stomping. A family-friendly event, this year there will be a grape pie-eating contest, food trucks, live music, wine tastings and seminars and local vendors. casalarga.com

4. Jonathan Russell

Local quintet fivebyfive has commissioned four musical works for Memorial Art Gallery’s exhibit, The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechter’s Stained-Glass Art, which comes to the gallery in February 2020. As part of Glass Works, a yearlong project, fivebyfive is hosting four intimate programs with the composers. Jonathan Russell is first up at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. He is a composer, clarinetist, bass clarinetist, conductor, writer and educator. fivebyfivemusic.com

5. Eastman Wind Orchestra

The Eastman Wind Orchestra will play selections by Hanson, Carter Pann and Ron Nelson, and the Eastman Wind Ensemble will perform Roberto Sierra’s “Rhapsodia” and David Liptak’s “Soundings” on Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Kodak Hall. esm.rochester.edu
