City officials helped celebrate the grand opening Tuesday of a new restaurant on Clifford Avenue.
MamaJuanaROC Restaurant and Lounge, at 2260 Clifford Ave., features a Latin fusion menu, including plantain bowl appetizers, Dominican kabobs, sushi accompanied by Rochester-style ground meat hot sauce, and surf-and-turf that comes with chimichurri and a side of yucca.
“We are excited to grow our business in Rochester, and the Clifford Avenue area is a perfect area for our business goals. We feel like we are part of a great neighborhood,” said owner Marcos Lopez. “We take pride into every single meal that comes out of our kitchen. We use some of the top culinary strategies to ensure quality and impact our customers one meal at a time.”
Lopez is partnering with family in the restaurant, which emphasizes Dominican cuisine in an upscale setting. His mother, Mercedes Martinez, and brothers Angel Lopez and Milton Pichardo are part of the restaurant team.
City Councilor Mitch Gruber and Neighborhood Service Centers Director Daisy Rivera Algarin attended the ribbon cutting Tuesday afternoon.
