The Eastman Faculty Artist Series presents Russell Miller, professor of vocal coaching and repertoire at the Eastman School of Music.
Miller is a pianist and has been a vocal coach and teacher at Eastman for over 20 years. He has performed all over the country and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. He has collaborated with tenor Robert Swensen on Schubert’s “Winterreise” as well as recitals with Jan Opalach, Julia Broxholm, Susan Shafer and many more.
Miller studied at the University of Southern California, Manhattan School of Music and Julliard School. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Michigan. Recently, he has taught and performed at Pine Mountain Music Festival in Michigan as well as the International Conducting Workshop and Festival in the Czech Republic.
Joining Miller is guest artist Jolyon Pegis. Pegis is a cellist and has been with the Dallas Symphony for almost 20 years. A Rochester native, Pegis made his New York recital debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1990 after winning the artist International Awards.
The two artists will collaborate on pieces by Debussy, Faure and Ravel. Show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 29. esm.rochester.edu
