On display at the Memorial Art Gallery are The Surreal Visions of Josephine Tota. Tota was a first-generation Italian immigrant who worked as a local seamstress. She discovered painting in her early seventies to depict reflections of her difficult past. She produced evocative work for 10 years before succumbing to dementia. Exhibit on display through Sept. 9. mag.rochester.edu
