Imagine Monroe, formerly the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency, has approved five projects expected to create or retain more than 175 jobs in Monroe County.

March projects include sales and mortgage tax exemptions for Sydor Instruments LLC, a photonics manufacturer that provides custom products for high-speed imaging and diagnostics. The company has partnered with the University of Rochester laboratory for Laser Energetics and the Brookhaven National Lab in the commercialization of products and is proposing to purchase, renovate and equip an existing 42,000-square-foot facility in the town of Perinton to facilitate future growth.

The $1.5 million project will retain 20 full-time jobs and is expected to create 19 new full-time jobs over the next three years.

Morgan Publisher Apartments LLC in Pittsford is proposing the development of a 209-unit senior community on more than 30 acres of property in the town of Webster. Publisher is seeking sales and mortgage recording tax exemptions, as well as JobsPlus property tax abatement for the 40 buildings.

The project will create more than five new, full-time jobs.

C&P Equities LLC is proposing the renovation of a vacant 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the city of Rochester, which will be divided into smaller manufacturing and warehouse spaces. Two tenants have been identified and are expected to create seven new, full-time jobs over three years.

C&P is requesting property tax abatement as well as mortgage and sales tax exemption.

Former Irondequoit Mall owner, 1733 Ridge Rd. LLC, is seeking approval of property tax abatement, sales and mortgage recording tax exemptions for the 1 million-square-foot facility that is being redeveloped as SkyView on the Ridge. The multi-phase project expects investment in excess of $100 million, and the Imagine Monroe request proposes to renovate roughly 100,000 square feet as well as provide a new roof and landscaping.

The projected job creation is 10 full-time jobs.

SWBR Architecture, Engineering & Landscape P.C. is planning to lease an additional two floors of office space at its 387 E. Main St. location in order to facilitate collaboration and improve production workflow. The company will invest nearly $363,000 to upgrade equipment systems and furniture.

SWBR has been approved for the GreatRate program and is seeking approval of the EquiPlus program. The GreatRate program provides an interest subsidy on a fixed rate loan or capital lease used to purchase machinery or equipment, if the company meets its job creation requirement. The EquiPlus program is for eligible companies approved for the GreatRate or GreatRebate program. The EquiPlus program provides sales tax exemption on qualified equipment purchases.

The company expects to add four full-time jobs within the next year.

“This month alone, Imagine Monroe will help create and retain 178 good paying, full-time jobs for Monroe County residents,” Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo said in a statement. “These exciting projects, among others, are just the latest sign that Monroe County is very much open for business.”
