Workers in Monroe County had the largest growth in weekly wages statewide in the second quarter last year, new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows.
Monroe County’s 3.9 percent wage increase to $968 weekly ranked 92nd among 346 large U.S. counties. All 18 large counties in New York had employment gains from June 2016 to June 2017, the data shows. Six of those counties reported average weekly wages above the $1,020 national average in the second quarter.
Employment rose in each of the 18 largest counties in New York from June 2016 to June 2017. Four of those counties—but none in the Rochester region—had employment growth above the national rate of 1.7 percent.
Employment in Monroe County in June 2017 was 390,900, a 0.6 percent increase from the previous year, BLS data shows.
