Snap Poll: Majority wary of self-driving cars (access required)

63% not comfortable using fully automated vehicle with no human backup

The push toward self-driving cars took another step forward recently when a company created by Google began testing a vehicle on public roads without a human backup driver. Waymo started using an automated Chrysler Pacifica minivan in the Phoenix suburb of Chandler, Arizona, last month with only an employee in the back seat. The employee is not able to steer the minivan but can press a button to stop the vehicle if necessary.
