County sales tax collections grew by an average of 3.3 percent in the first half of 2017, compared with the same period last year, according to a report released by the New York State Comptroller’s Office in August. Low unemployment, consumer confidence and, especially, the recent rise in gasoline prices have driven the increased collections, according to the comptroller’s report.
