Paychex Inc. plans to add 625 new full-time jobs over the next five years and will acquire five parcels of property in Henrietta to move operations from leased facilities throughout Monroe County to a new, multi-building campus. The payroll and human resources services company will keep the locations it owns in Brighton, Henrietta, Webster, Penfield and its headquarters in Rochester.
The $58.4 million project, which is underway, is expected to be completed in July 2018.
“This project will help ensure Paychex remains a major economic driver for Monroe County and the surrounding communities and provides quality jobs for hard-working New Yorkers throughout the region,” said Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who was in Henrietta to announce the project. “By supporting the company’s expansion and growth in the Finger Lakes, we will help create hundreds of job opportunities and continue moving the region forward.”
Empire State Development offered Paychex up to $11.5 million through the Excelsior Jobs Program in exchange for job commitments. A Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Grant of up to $2.5 million has also been committed to the project.
Paychex, which was founded in 1971, has nearly 14,000 employees, including about 4,400 in Monroe County.
“Paychex is growing, and this project reflects that growth,” Paychex President and CEO Martin Mucci said. “As we continue to invest in our technology-enabled service and expand our human capital management product offerings, we will look to hire, train, and retain the talent to support our growth.”
